Cute Bento Boxes

Onigiri boxes from Bento&Co

Onigiri box from Bento&Co

This last month I went a little bento crazy, looking for the cutest boxes and tools. I’m preparing for spring and summer bento picnics Smile Needless to say there’s been little sunshine to spot in the Netherlands so far…
Lately I’ve been complaining to my hubby that I needed more happiness in the kitchen. He replied that he was already surrounded by smiling boxes and tools, lol. I’ll share some pictures with you later.

If you’ve got tips for online recipes, please do share them in the comments! I would really like to know Grin
For now I’ll leave you with my favourite bento picks, in random order.

  1. Decole bento Box, featuring the Little chef. Also check out the adorable smiling cups
  2. 2-tier Tenorikuma bento box with a yellow belt, yep this one is also smiling.
  3. These onigiri boxes are probably the cutest, I couldn’t resist them. They’ll fit one onigiri and  you can place a (tiny) side dish on top. All three now live at my home, staring down at me from the fridge. Please have a look at the matching recipe.
  4. Shinzih Katoh is a japanese designer. You can purchase lots of retro-themed items from his shop. My favourite is the Apple lunch box, which would make a great storage for these apple zakka, how kawaii is that?
  5. Hello Kitty is about my age, so I also grew up with Twin Stars. They are both displayed on a two tier box with chopsticks. You can browse the JBOX site for tons of more bento items.
  6. This list wouldn’t be complete without some yummy Cram Cream so here you go: bunny or piggy.
  7. Kamio dreamy friends bento boxes, comes in 4 designs.
  8. Hooray for more smiling items, check out these boxes shaped like bread <3.
  9. Looking for a complete set? Than this Decole mayonaise bento might be right for you.

Hunting for toys

Blythe Prima Dollies 2009

Blythe Prima Dollies 2009

I’m sorry for not posting more regurlarly! I’ll add interested readers to my Pet Society this weekend.

I spent my last weekend on looking for some vinyl toys that I still miss in my small collection. Especially the blue and white Baby Treeson <3, Bamboozoo -I would love to have Miss Mishka or the mini bunny- and Cannibal Funfair toys from Tado. It’s still a bit surprising to see the vinyl toys made by my hubby pop up everywhere:  Seamour Sheep and Marty Mole. I have the urge to adopt them all Grin.

A while ago I’ve purchased some felt and stuffing and dusted my old sewing machine. I would like to make some simple plush and feel inspired by the cute creations from Anna Chambers and Spök Spök. In fact Anna’s turd (Colonel Corn) and the Spök Spök couple will come to live with me soon In Love . If you would like to get into making plushies, I can recommend the Softies book.

Last but not least my shopping spree ended with the preordering of two new Blythe dollies. Their cartoon pictures already looked very promising but the real promo pictures of Adorable Aubrey and Heather Sky did the trick. Prima Dolly Heather Sky will probably be a heartbreaker, I noticed her priced already jumped on eBay. They’re being released at the end of next week, I can’t wait…

Weekly spotlight: Pet Society

Meet Yuki

Meet Yuki

Okay, don’t say that I didn’t warn you. Pet Society is highly addictive! As far as I can tell it’s available through Facebook and MySpace. The game play is a bit similar to other role-playing games like Animal Crossing and GoPets. First you can assemble your own pet by picking out it’s ears, eyes, gender and so on. You can always change or enhance these features later on by visiting the stylist.

Like each pet your creature demands a lot, such as food, clothes, a nice interior and some playtime. By playing or racing with your pet and through the “daily lottery” you earn coins which you can spend at one of the shops in town. And of course money also grows on trees, walk past them and see what happens! Part of the inventory will change weekly so you have a reason to go shopaholic Wink

Pet Society wouldn’t be a nice Facebook application if it wasn’t possible to add friends. Befriended pets will live in your neighbourhood so you can visit their homes to play or send gifts & messages. If you would like to join Yuki’s -my pet- society, she’d be more than happy to build you a home Smile Yuki isn’t around much though because her owner is a workaholic Vomit. But feel free to leave a comment -with or without your Facebook name- and I’ll send you an invite.
