Hunting for toys

Blythe Prima Dollies 2009

Blythe Prima Dollies 2009

I’m sorry for not posting more regurlarly! I’ll add interested readers to my Pet Society this weekend.

I spent my last weekend on looking for some vinyl toys that I still miss in my small collection. Especially the blue and white Baby Treeson <3, Bamboozoo -I would love to have Miss Mishka or the mini bunny- and Cannibal Funfair toys from Tado. It’s still a bit surprising to see the vinyl toys made by my hubby pop up everywhere:  Seamour Sheep and Marty Mole. I have the urge to adopt them all Grin.

A while ago I’ve purchased some felt and stuffing and dusted my old sewing machine. I would like to make some simple plush and feel inspired by the cute creations from Anna Chambers and Spök Spök. In fact Anna’s turd (Colonel Corn) and the Spök Spök couple will come to live with me soon In Love . If you would like to get into making plushies, I can recommend the Softies book.

Last but not least my shopping spree ended with the preordering of two new Blythe dollies. Their cartoon pictures already looked very promising but the real promo pictures of Adorable Aubrey and Heather Sky did the trick. Prima Dolly Heather Sky will probably be a heartbreaker, I noticed her priced already jumped on eBay. They’re being released at the end of next week, I can’t wait…

Migraine misery

It’s that time of the month again. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about Wink This means I’m transforming into a chocolate eating, sentimental, rebellious cleaning monster. If that isn’t bad enough, my body also decides to let me down, resulting in back, neck & shoulder pain and migraines.

The migraine usually starts behind one of my eyes and stays with me for a good three days Sad  Today is day one…  I could already feel the pain coming up this morning so I decided to stay in bed a bit longer. But of course clients already started phoning about e-mail from Friday late afternoon that I hadn’t answered yet. You can imagine that listening to people isn’t the first thing you want to do when your head hurts so I told them -in a nice matter- that there’s such a thing called WEEKEND, and that I also enjoy that privilege *sigh*.  So as they day went on and I answered phonecalls, e-mails and finished assignments the migraine worsened. Luckily my hubby wanted to do the cooking today <3

By that time I had started my creative healing method, because a regular painkiller won’t ease the pain. Don’t try this at home though Razz The remedy is eating lots of food -no matter what- and drinking a caffeine beverage and water, this helps me to reduce the pain. Weird huh?

So right now I’m hyperactive and fat on the inside. But at least I’m not in any pain Grin

Post office confusion

Since I like to sell stuff through my Tamagotchi shop and eBay, it isn’t very surprising that they know my face at the post office. Whenever I want to ship expensive dolls or Tamagotchi’s I like to opt for Internation Package Plus. This is about the only way to ship a package with insurance and tracking number from the Netherlands. And believe me, it isn’t a cheap service to begin with.

But this Friday, for the second time around, the employee told me it was of no use to send a package with International Package Plus to the United States. I wondered why they would even offer that service in the first place if they weren’t willing to sell it to me… He told me that a refund -with a maximum of $180- was determined by the weight of a package. Great way of determing the value of a package isn’t it? Next time I’m going to ship a brick stone along!

His second argument was that it would -and this were his exact words- reguire a SUPER computer to be able to track a package that far. So I explained to him that this sounded odd to me, since I had shipped a Blythe earlier this year with the same service and could clearly follow her whereabouts online. Even across the magic borders of the Netherlands.
He asked me what numbers I had to fill in on the website in order to trace the package. I thought they should know that better than me… I was becoming a bit impatient since I had to catch a train, my hubby and I were planning on spending the afternoon in Amsterdam. So I said to him; “please send the package with Internation Plus”. By that time he had given me the form which I began to fill in. He mumbled that he was told to discourage clients in choosing this service for the United States. He thought it had to do with America’s blame-and-claim culture.

Well I can tell you that whenever a package does get lost, I’m always the one responsible. The only thing TNT does is answering my $1-per-minute phonecall and starting a half-hearted investigation which can take months. Gah, I hope this package will arrive safely. But by now I understand why their profits have dropped.
